Kaspersky has been included on the FCC's Covered List, so federal funds cannot be used to purchase its products. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) of the United States has included Kaspersky in the "Covered List", which is the list of companies that represent a danger to national security. The Russian software house said the decision is exclusively of a political nature. The Italian government has also asked public administrations to purchase another security solution. Kaspersky outside the United States The US government had already ordered federal agencies in 2017 to remove all Kaspersky products from computers. Based on the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019, the FCC has now added the Russian software house to the Covered List, along with China Mobile International USA and China Telecom Americas, as they can pose a national security risk.
Inclusion in the list means that the 8 billion dollars, provided annually by the Universal Service Fund (subsidies for telecommunications services), cannot be used to purchase Kaspersky products. In the Covered List there are also Huawei, ZTE, Hytera Communications, Hikvision and Dahua Technology. The US decision is obviously linked to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The government suspects Kaspersky's software may be used to collect confidential information on behalf of the Kremlin. This is the same risk hypothesized by Germany and Italy. ADVERTISEMENT PARALLAX POWERED BY Kaspersky released the following statement: Kaspersky is disappointed with the Federal Communications Commission's decision to ban the use of certain federal telecommunications subsidies to purchase Kaspersky products and services. This decision is not based on any technical evaluation of Kaspersky products, which the company continually supports, but only on a political basis. Kaspersky will continue to ensure the quality and integrity of its products to its partners and customers and remains ready to work with US government agencies to address the concerns of the FCC and any other regulatory agency. Kaspersky provides products and services to customers around the world to protect them from all types of cyber threats and has clearly stated that it has no connection with any government, including the Russian one. The Russian software house also announced that the bug bounty program hosted on the HackerOne platform has been suspended. Access to the platform has been blocked and payments have been stopped. Kaspersky then asks security researchers to report the vulnerabilities by email.
COMMENT:
It is not with antivirus that you win the war on hacker attacks. If there was an invincible antivirus it SHOULD be made mandatory. In reality, the possibility of choice also leads to many out-of-date situations and focuses too much on the involvement of people, clicking is very easy, thinking much less, also because it would inevitably lead to wage claims and contractual classification, which would obviously be denied. We have a HARDWARE method that allows you to block ALL malicious sites. Interventions must be made at the level of the Company and at the level of State Organizations. It is described on another page of this site. By adopting this system, phishing developers can do whatever they want but they are always blocked.
