In 2010 the troika was born, with the ECB, the European Union and the International Monetary Fund. Today we only have the ECB and the EU, but it's not much different. The intervention of Lando Maria Sileoni, secretary general of Fabi Our political class and those who will govern the country in the coming years will not be able to turn a blind eye: even with respect to the ECB we will have obligations and precise indications to be respected. But the parties, in their propaganda in the current election campaign, do not mention this new situation. In short, in addition to the European Union, we will also have a very authoritative economic and financial institution, but in fact also a political one, which will monitor our work and the management of our public accounts. The European Central Bank, with the ICC, has modified the mechanism – he continues – aimed at helping European states with high public debt. Gone is the system launched by Draghi 10 years ago that was based on automatic purchases of bots and btp. Since last July 21, in fact, the ECB can intervene at its discretion, dictating precise rules to governments both for the reduction of public debt and for other aspects concerning the reforms to be launched and implemented. I am not at all opposed to this new system, on the contrary I consider it useful in a complex phase. I would venture to say, however, that we are also under commissioner by the ECB. This is a sensational novelty because we will be judged not only by the European Union, but also by the European Central Bank, which will monitor our ability, for example, to launch the most significant reforms.
